Jennifer Castro
Assistant Provost for Developing People and Leaders
Jennifer Castro’s work focuses on social justice education, program design and facilitation, and strategic planning and implementation. She is committed to supporting the personal and professional development of the Tufts community by creating and leading both individualized and collective learning experiences. In partnership with colleagues across campus, she also works to build more equitable infrastructures, processes, and practices that center learning as an ongoing, integrated experience.
Prior to joining Tufts, Jennifer was Director of Strategic Projects and Diversity Education at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where she led learning initiatives and supported unit-based strategic planning. She brings a long-standing commitment to supporting students from historically marginalized backgrounds, informed by her previous roles as Associate Director of Intercultural Learning and Development at Rhode Island School of Design and Director of Multicultural Affairs/Assistant Director of the Urban Scholars Initiative at Lesley University.
Jennifer holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Rhode Island and is pursuing a doctorate in Education Policy, Organization, and Leadership at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
