Over the past academic year, over 400 Tufts students, staff, and faculty members participated in eight community engagement sessions on all four Tufts campuses to help shape a cohesive future of inclusive excellence. Insights from these sessions were carefully reviewed, synthesized and analyzed through a community-led Think Tank to ensure alignment with university priorities and to honor the depth of the contributions shared. As a result of this collaborative process and feedback from the Tufts community, nine university-wide recommendations grounded in our four pillars were identified for operationalizing institutional inclusive excellence. These recommendations represent a collective commitment to embedding inclusion into the core of how we learn, work and lead.

While the full context and narratives behind these recommendations will be shared in our Fall 2025 ELEVATE Executive Report, this summer, we are excited to share a preview of what is ahead, and the foundation we are building to bring this vision to life.

Below are the recommendations as identified by members of the ELEVATE Think Tank.

  • Pillar 1: Developing People and Leaders
    • Recommendation 1: Fostering Connection, Mentorship and Recognition
    • Recommendation 2: Expanding Inclusive Learning and Development
  • Pillar 2: Informing and Advancing Policies and Practices
    • Recommendation 3: Enhancing Representative and Informed Thought Partnership
    • Recommendation 4: Elevating Best Practices for a Collaborative and Innovative Workplace
    • Recommendation 5: Cultivating a Culture of Care
  • Pillar 3: Creating and Expanding Resources and Research
    • Recommendation 6: Prioritizing Community Engaged Research
    • Recommendation 7: Enhancing Visibility of Applicable and Translational Resources
  • Pillar 4: Designing Community Targeted Educational Programs
    • Recommendation 8: Encouraging Dialogue and Discourse
    • Recommendation 9: Establishing Community Driven Programs

What to Expect in Fall 2025

  • Sharing examples of school and unit-level implementation along with drafting toolkits, learning modules, guides, and other resources to help support school and unit planning, strategic alignment, and goal setting.
  • Formally launching the ELEVATOR Ambassador Program, designed to deepen engagement and connection across all parts of the university.

We invite you to stay connected, stay curious, and stay ready for the new academic year! The work ahead is collective and the momentum we’ve built together will carry us forward into a new chapter of inclusive excellence at Tufts.
