What is Institutional Inclusive Excellence?
Rooted in academic scholarship, Institutional Inclusive Excellence is both aspirational and actionable. This framework challenges institutions to align to best practice in creating spaces where all members of the community feel valued, supported and able to thrive.
Inclusive excellence is inseparable from academic and institutional excellence; it must be embedded and prioritized across the institution and requires sustained action. It advances intentional and strategic alignment of shared work across the schools and aligns with inclusive excellence in teaching, learning, research and operations.
Institutional inclusive excellence at Tufts is framed around four key pillars:
- Pillar 1: Developing People and Leaders
- Pillar 2: Informing and Advancing Policies and Practices
- Pillar 3: Creating and Expanding Resources and Research
- Pillar 4: Designing Community Targeted Educational Programs
In October 2023, we held a welcome reception to celebrate Tufts’ diversity with food, music, and gifts for all. We also previewed our strategic vision, framework, and goals and revealed our office’s new name, Office of the Vice Provost for Institutional Inclusive Excellence. Watch the recorded presentation.
