Inclusive and Restorative Dialogues Program Director

Headshot of Naomi Boase with plants in background

Naomi Boase (she/her) is the inaugural Inclusive and Restorative Dialogues Program Director in the Office of the Vice Provost for Institutional Inclusive Excellence (IIE) at Tufts University. Previously, Naomi served as the Director of the Center for Intercultural Engagement and the Social Justice Resource Center at Northeastern University where she designed and implemented Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategies for the division of Student Life. She has provided DEI consultations and trainings in international and domestic settings for over 10 years to increase a sense of belonging within communities and organizations.

Naomi believes in the power of restorative practices to transform conflict into growth opportunities by addressing harm when it happens through facilitated dialogue. She also believes restorative work must be paired with DEI educational opportunities for learners to think critically about their social positioning and how to hold a posture of cultural humility in interpersonal and intergroup relationships. Through the work of IIE, she hopes that, every day, more students, staff, and faculty, will feel they can show up authentically as they are, wherever they are; for the Tufts community to seek wholeness and healing through liberatory learning.

Naomi came into higher education from a background in humanitarian work and international development. She previously worked in the South West Asian and North African (SWANA) region where she managed psychosocial projects in the north of Jordan, which focused on identity and relational development with refugee populations. Naomi holds a Bachelor of Arts from Taylor University in International Studies (Middle East Studies) and a Master of Science from SOAS, University of London, in Violence, Conflict and Development. She enjoys watching WNBA games with her wife, reading memoirs, and spending time with her family!
