The Joint Council on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JCEDI) at Tufts University Health Sciences Schools will focus on promoting cross-campus collaborative efforts to advance equity, diversity and inclusion across the health sciences campuses in Boston and Grafton. The Council will work collaboratively to identify joint strategies to achieve Tufts University’s equity, diversity and inclusion goals. In addition, the Council will encourage the leadership of schools to develop individualized interventions tailored to the mission and goals of each school.
JCEDI will serve as a resource to Tufts Health Sciences Schools (HSS) by developing recommendations and guidelines to promote equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) with respect to the following core questions:
How can Tufts University HSS best support and promote an inclusive community where its students, faculty and staff can thrive and succeed?
How can the Tufts University HSS foster among its faculty, students and staff the cultural competence needed to teach, learn and work effectively in a diverse academic community?
How can the Tufts HSS foster accountability among faculty, staff and administration for advancing its commitment to, and achieving its equity, diversity and inclusion goals?
What sort of infrastructure, support system and resources will Tufts University need to put in place to effectively implement interventions, measure their outcomes, and use data to monitor our progress in an ongoing basis towards achieving our goals?
The JCEDI is comprised of a cross section of students, faculty, staff and university leaders at all our campuses.
