Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Access (DEIJA) 2023 Fall Welcome Reception
On October 26, we held a Fall Welcome Reception to celebrate Tufts' diversity with food, music, and gifts for all. We also previewed our strategic vision, framework, and goals and revealed our office's new name, Office of the Vice Provost for Institutional Inclusive Excellence.
Why "Institutional Inclusive Excellence"?
More Than A Name
Inclusive excellence is inseparable from academic and institutional excellence; it must be embedded and prioritized across the institution and requires sustained action.
The name, "Institutional Inclusive Excellence":
- Aligns with inclusive excellence in teaching, learning, and research
- Aspirational and actionable
- Still inclusive of advancing Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Access (DEIJA) work
- Emphasizes the interrelatedness of institutional excellence and inclusive excellence
- Advances intentional and strategic alignment of DEIJA work and efforts on a local and institutional level
- Contributes to an institutional narrative consistent with advancing DEIJA
